The History of Hotel Villa Anita

Santa Margherita Ligure

The Hotel Villa Anita in Santa Margherita Ligure is owned by the Tarella family.
The history of the Hotel Villa Anita and the Tarella family is intertwined with that of Lake Maggiore and its shores, in a tradition of hospitality that began in 1925 with Vittore Tarella, the family’s first hotelier. His journey began with the management of the Hotel Lido Palace in Baveno and the Belvedere in Trarego Viggiona, two structures that soon became points of reference for those who wanted to immerse themselves in the beauty of the lake. But the course of history, as often happens, suddenly changes.
During the Second World War, both hotels were requisitioned to be transformed into military hospitals. Their rooms, once intended for the rest of travelers, became shelters for the wounded, and the Tarella family experienced the uncertainty of a forced break. In the post-war period, Lida Ferraris, Vittore’s widow and owner of the Hotel Beau Rivage in Baveno, found herself leading the family through a period of reconstruction. With determination, she sold the Hotel Lido and focused her energies on the Hotel Beau Rivage and the Belvedere, keeping alive the commitment to hospitality that she and her husband had shared.
In 1957, a new turning point: together with her children Rosanna and Pieralfio, Lida decided to go down to Liguria, in love with the charm of the sea.
Here, they purchased Villa Anita in Santa Margherita Ligure, a little gem that would become the heart of the family tradition along the Riviera.
Today, the third generation passionately carries on the family business: Sandro Tarella manages Villa Anita, now transformed into a refined and modern boutique hotel, a stone’s throw from the sea, immersed in the greenery of its flower garden, which has been able to implement over the years the offer proposed with services aimed at well-being, for an experience increasingly dedicated to the relaxation and comfort of the guest, continuing to infuse elegance and warmth in the splendid Ligurian setting. De Antoni Tarella Marco has returned to his origins, on Lake Maggiore, at the helm of the Hotel Beau Rivage.
The tradition and vision of hospitality of the Tarella family continues to live on, between the lake and the sea, in a constant dialogue between past and future.
